Physical anthropologist Erik Trinkaus believes that man started wearing shoes about 40,000 to 26,000 years ago. He based his conclusion on the discovery that the bones of the toes decreased during this period. Had man continued to go barefoot, the toe bones would not have decreased. These pre-historic men probably had only one pair of shoes which consisted of animal skin wrapped around their feet.
Today, most men and women have more than one pair of shoes. Most men have at least a pair each of dress and casual shoes, for formal and non-formal wear. If they are engaged in some form of exercise or sports, they would have other types of shoes.
While most men would settle for black and brown pairs of shoes, plenty of women have practically all colors –red, yellow, gold, silver, green, you name it, they’ve got it. Their shoes have to match the color of their dress and their bags. Indeed, a former first lady from the Far East is reputed to have three thousand pairs of shoes.
With this evolution from the animal skin wrapped around the feet to the different types of shoes for different occasions and uses, shoe storage has become an issue. Fortunately, there are ingenious men and women, who probably have a lot of shoes themselves, who have designed creative ways of storing footwear.
Who doesn’t love the weekend? No work and all play – that is the definition of my weekend. On Fridays, my adrenaline pumps with excitement and joy. Finally, I get to sleep late, wake up later, and skip wearing business clothes.
